What can I say? Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham were brilliant, as always. I've never seen them live, and I wasn't expecting the banter and anecdotes, they had the audience in their hands. 'Box and Fiddle Men' was their description, not mine. I wouldn't dare make such a demeaning comment about such fantasically accomplished musicians!

Phil and Aly made it feel like an evening with best friends. The music was excellent and what a treat to see them up close. The speed that Phil's fingers cover the accordian keys is unbelievable (especially with a broken finger!) and Aly's fiddle playing just brilliant - the best ever. Loved the stories in between the music as well. A good laugh and the best musicians ever - what more could you ask for.

Aly Bain is a legend fiddle player and Phil Cunningham on his accordian is the perfect foil. Phil's jokes make the whole evening go with a swing. Great stuff.

An excellent performance with a great variety of material. Non-stop enjoyment with the tunes interspersed with really good and amusing anecdotes and tales. Definitely a memorable evening. The only criticism - for us up in the circle, the clarity of the spoken word was at times poor and bearing in mind that there was a fair proportion of older concert-goers, perhaps the sound engineer could have boosted the volume and definition of the speech content of the evening. However, the skill in playing the fiddle and accordion by these two leaders in the field of traditional Scottish music left me in awe.

Aly and Phil were magic. How do they keep those fingers going at that speed? My almost- 90- year- old Mum has never stopped talking about it. Normally she forgets where she has been by the next day but not this evening! However the boys do need some new jokes! We've heard them three times now!

The banter wis guid and the music was fantastic - Phil had magic fingers and Ali managed that bow like no one could imagine. They complement each other in every way and they are very unassuming they made you feel like you were sitting in your own living room on a new years night.
