I bought these tickets for my parents and brother for us all to see a brilliant show. Unfortunately i was ill with the flu and dreaded winter bug. So I had to let my brothers girlfriend have my ticket. I was devastated, as i had been looking forward to this for months. They all said Ken Dodd was amazing, and a true comedian that all the family could go to see. No swearing, just good jokes, like he said in his show "they dont have comedians anymore like the old ones such as Tommy Cooper etc." He is a very clever comedian. You think he has lost track of his jokes and then he will come back to it with a punch line. A true gent who loves and appreciates his audience.

We had tickets to see Jimmy Carr tonight but decided to sell them and buy tickets for Ken Dodd. I have to say I am glad we did. We got to see a legend at work who was funny for 4 hours without ever being rude or swearing. I would've liked to have seen Ken give us a "By Jove" etc but sadly not tonight. Ken was funny throughout but he did not look well up on stage. He had a nasty cough and looked frail but like the pro he is, he carried on. There were times when he forgot the punchline to jokes and others when he repeated jokes but given his age etc, these could be overlooked.
Ken had a little break where we were "treated" to two acts which I can only describe as surreal. Sybie Jones and Andante both looked like they were the reserve acts for a SAGA cruise. Half the audience left while they performed but we were transfixed like a rabbit in the headlights. I really wasn't expecting to be watching a woman playing a recorder and squeezebox and a man playing a saw and for it to be serious.
All in all, Ken put on a professional and very funny show and at times had me crying with laughter and I was slightly disappointed he left the stage at 12.15. I could've watched him for a couple more hours.

Got tickets for my parents for Christmas as I went to see the happiness show the last time Ken came to the Tyne Theatre and loved it and wished I'd got tickets for them then.
They weren't disappointed. He's such a breath of fresh air and even though a lot of his jokes are old he's still so funny.
It is well known that Ken Dodd's shows go on for a long time and i warned my parents that it would be after 12 oclock when they would get out and i was right. Fantastic value for money.

What an absolutely fabulous show it was! Ken Dodd is really amazing, ever so funny - we havent laughed so much for years! He was really hilarious, all good clean fun with no swearing which seems to be a novelty these days. It was a wonderful evening and we would certainly go again and again and again. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Excellent value for money. A very funny man who does not need to use bad language to make you laugh and have a good time.
Never liked Ken Dodd until I saw him live now been to see him 3 time in 3 years and each show has been excellent. A highly recommended show

Ken Dodd was a great artist, but after seeing the show on Saturday I was really dissapointed. He forgot his jokes and forgot where he was in his script. As for the woman who came on in the first half she was terrible, a lot of people walked out when she was on, us included. We left after the interval as we had had enough. Very disappointed.

• What's not to like about a Ken Dodd show?
If you bought a ticket and wanted to see him perform live; you won't be disappointed. He is a consummate professional with hilarious gags, singing and ad-libs coming thick and fast; you'll have a smile on your face and lots and lots of laughter throughout his act.

• What is there to dislike about the show?
Well there's the support act, Sybie Jones, who played piano, flute, guitar and sang and did all four at a very modest level, with mistakes. Her performance caused a steady emptying of the auditorium with people going to the toilet, purchasing drinks, moving seats and talking loudly to each other. It was like the interval had already started!
• Seating the in the Wolverhampton Civic Hall stalls didn't allow Ken Dodd to be visible to all. The seats were packed together with minimal space between rows. The seating was exceedingly uncomfortable and the chairs far too small; people had overlapping elbows and were not enjoying their personal space being invaded.
• Patrons spilled drinks; at one point, pouring beer all over the seat in front and over my husband’s leg. Is there a case for not allowing drinks in the cramped seating area? There was ample room around the sides of the seating area for people to finish their drinks without compromising the enjoyment of others.
• People took flash pictures during the show and sat around using phones (this caused distraction to others due to the bright illumination of the screens); many were talking loudly. People behaved as if they were in their own home watching television and without any consideration for others.
• We left early due to the marring of the show by the poor behaviour. We were challenged by staff and not allowed to leave until we had explained ourselves. It was unpleasant to say the least, then a young staff member called out "Have a good night!" whilst an older member of staff, at least had the manners to empathise. We will not be returning to the Wolverhampton Civic Hall for any future events.
• Disappointingly, "happiness" for us was not achieved overall. However, congratulations on 57 years in showbiz, Ken and for the happiness you have brought and continue to bring to people.
• Ken Dodd is a rare, versatile and remarkable, talented performer.

Ken Dodd is unbelievably funny. I think every person in the country should get the opportunity to see this man live. Clean and a little risque (it works though) at times I laughed the whole way through. He is one of the old school, Les Dawson, Eric Morecame, Tommy Cooper, imortals and there likes will not be seen again. They don't even need to talk and you will be crying with laughter. Every time Ken Dodd comes to the north East of England I will be in the crowd watching him. Absolute quality. He is a man who enjoys his work the crack on the stage is brilliant.

Is there another entertainer out there who provides such value for money as Ken Dodd? From gracing the stage at a little after 1900 and leaving, to a standing ovation, at 0006 - the man is nothing short of a comedy legend. The last of the true greats, perhaps?
If not for the late finish time, it would be a true family show - not a swear word to be heard - just old-fashioned engaging, charismatic charm and comedy.
I am glad he still finds plenty of mileage out of his historical 'differences' with the Inland Revenue: "Self-Assessment?....I invented it!".

The merchandise was very reasonably priced too - a mere £2 for a programme and £3.50 for 'A Knotty Ash Tickling Stick'.
A note to anyone intending on going in future- take a flask of coffee!
I spoke to one of the venue staff who informed me that he walked Ken out of the building at 0300 last year.
On a dreary Sunday evening in the West Midlands, I can think of no better tonic than a night 's entertainment in the company of Doddy!

Ken Dodd is a true genius and a legend of comedy who simply makes me ache with laughter, but why does he not do say 2 x 90 mins sets so we can all go home at a reasonable hour. It's billed as a family show but most people with kids have to leave at the interval and as we had quite a drive too we had to do the same, otherwise it would have been beyond 1-30am before we got home. There is no need to pad the show out with that very average singer after the first set; the whole structure of this show is wrong. He should start at 7pm, do say 90 mins, interval and another 90 mins and we can be out by 10-30pm. I understand the show goes on until after midnight, whilst this is commendable in terms of value for money and his age it is far too long and I think this will discourage me from taking my family to see him again. May be I'll have to wait until he's in his 90's when he might slow down !

From the moment he came on stage just after 7pm, to the end of the show just after midnight, Doddy tickled our chuckle muscles! Good, clean fun with a few of his hits to sing along to as well, Doddy is always good VFM and this night was no exception. We enjoyed every moment. He is fabulous for his age and totally deserved the adulation of the audience. Go see him if you can - the man's a genius. I hope he goes on forever - just like his shows!! Love you Ken.x

What a fantastic show.
Never stopped laughing the whole night.
Real family fun, I haven't stopped raving about it.
Would highly recommend going to see a show.
The show started at 7pm & finished at midnight (what a night) Don't know how he keeps going and remembers all the jokes.
Loved the song (absent friends) he sang at the end.
Standing ovation!!!!

All you hear about his shows is true , the show started at 7.00pm there was break at 10pm for about 20 mins after which the show restarted and then went on to just past midnight !!!!! , this guy is a national treasure , hours of gags and funny stories with no blue language , fantastic value for money .........go and see this guy before its too late !!!!

Started at 8.00pm finished at 1.15pm when he allowed us to go.Threatened a curfew of 3.00am- I would have stayed! Support acts were very good especially "Adante?" who on recorders and guitars should have been unmusical but were in fact great. Ken Dodd was incredible , and had us in stitches all night. We were told his act is "a bit blue" but this was not at all evident on this performanceand made a welcome change from current arena comedians who swear every other word.
Having said for ages that one day I would like to see Ken Dodd in concert- I am glad I did and would queue for tickets when he does his next tour. However I would not go to this venue. It was cold and draftly with doors to the freezing winds from outside being allowed to blow into the hall. Smokers should go out to the outside and shut the doors behind them

Never seen Doddy but liked him when I was young ... !! We sat 'til the interval and left .
Doddy was good for a while but then we were simply saturated and after an hour or so, it was all a blur! By the interval, we couldn't wait to get out ... phew! The idea of another 3 hours of saturation was too much to bear.
The singer woman was rubbish ... out of tune, appalling image(!) and we felt almost embarrassed watching her!
Its a shame because to be fair, Doddy's old style humour still 'cuts it' but the length of his show absolutely ruins the greatness of his act ... you just lose interest ... even his two man band looked zombified!

The show started at 7.30pm and apart from a 25 minute interval and 2 x 15 minute guest artistes, Ken Dodd was on stage throughout until 12.40 am. He was funny and still has an excellent voice but appeared to have forgotten the words and used a crib sheet.
