This is a brilliantly written play. It is packed with extremely real, very believable characters all with a story connected to the match. Amazingly they are all played by only 6 very accomplished actors who change through each role effortlessly - you are never left in any doubt as to who they are meant to be! The humour is easily understood whether you're Irish or not or a rugby fan or not. It captures the characters in the match and those connected with it perfectly - and the pessimistic view of the Irish underdog - never happy to be winning, certain of defeat!! That's probably what makes the final score so fantastic - a real feel-good play! It is an absolute classic - such a triumph in every sense of the word! Even the poignancy of the death of Donal's father is beautifully handled. This was our third time watching it and it just gets better & better. Come back to Belfast soon!!
