Not one of David Bintley's finest hours' (yes, plural-it was long).
The scenery was striking but the dancing on the opening night was too ordinary with the exception of Cesar Morales, who was impressive....he seemed to embody the impish quality needed for the role of Aladdin. The choreography remained linear against the soaring score (Carl Davis) which didn't convey a sense of any place in particular.
Though it did not rub me the wrong way, I can't help but feel that there was much missing in this production. I longed to get the chance to make a wish for more excitement in this production.
