Utter & total rubbish. What a waste of money & time. Attracted by the reviews & its past history, we went in great anticipation. Would the great man himself, SR Beale, be in the matinee??? Well, he was. Big deal. Any half-decent jobbing actor can do camp with OTT clothes, I would have thought. The entire event was dreadful. Unnecessary nudity, constant foul language (yes, I know at the time squaddies swore, but unending use of the f & c words could have been tempered with others) & a non-existant plot. Really, what do theatre reviewers think? Do they at all? A total "Emperors Clothes" piece here. Avoid at all costs. Thank goodness it ends soon. If you want to waste time, try root canal treatment without a jab - marginally more fun. AVOID.

Sadly this is coming to the end of its run in the West End, but it deserves to do a National Tour. It goes without saying that Simon Russell Beale is outstanding in a play that has, at long last, had a major revival. He is clearly oneof ur finest actors having show thathe can do anything from Spamalot, through this outrageous performance to serious work in Spooks and others on TV. If he doesn't get a knighthood soon there is likely to be a revolution!
He is well supported by the cast or all men and one woman. Tightly directed, not a drop in the pace, superb casting, fine setting and hilarious songs by Denis King. If you can get a last minute ticket before this classic comes off, then do, you won' be disappointed.

One of the best shows I can remember. A riot of double entendre, and hih octane high camp! Simon Russell Beale flounced and bounced a part that could have been written for him, with wholehearted support from a committed cast. Even the understudy Davina Perera, was stunning (Though perhaps one would not expect anything less from a blue chip West End production). Wish I lived near enough to see it again....and again!!
