As a non banjo player, and first time attendee of this festival, I was worried that 4 days of banjos would drive me insane, but how wrong I was! The mastery of Gerry O'Connor playing the banjo with his son on Bohran was not to be missed, and the amazing musicianship of the Barcelona Blue Grass Band was world class! I have never heard any harmonica player play with such magic! The young players in We Banjos Three were also pretty special! However several bands at the festival did not have banjo players among their group, and whilst they played a good mix of blue grass, country, and irish music it would have been good to have seen more banjos! Workshops with these musicians at the festival were also very good. Its a pity that the festival wasnt well attended as it would have created a better atmosphere. Well worth the trip from the UK!
