Although they were up against the odds, The olympic torch, West-life and England playing football, we chose the best night out. The singers and dancers told the tale of Sean & Cora, with well sung songs both old and new, which made you want to get up out of your seat and join in! A Fantastic show and would recommend it to anyone.

We had a lot of fun watching The Essence of Ireland show. The songs, the dancers, the whole show was excellent and meeting the cast afterwards was a treat. I was disappointed that the theatre was half empty but this didn't detract from my enjoyment.

A treat for my Irish born wife so not sure what to expect. What I got was a musical feast - not exclusively Irish-but ranging from the folk songs of my mis-spent folk club youth to modern american country and pop. Weaved together by a simple story line and illustrated by a range of spectacular dance. The lively and enthusiastic singers, dancers and musicians made sure that we all had a splendid, enjoyable evening.

If you do not want to sing along at every opportunity or clap and tap your feet until exhaustion sets in then give this a miss. If you want an entertaining, uplifting night out thats a bit different and puts a smile on your face then DON'T MISS THIS SHOW!!!!!

I bought these tickets for my dad's 70th birthday and wasn't sure what to expect at all. The story line was a nice idea to tie the songs together and was a bit emotional in places. The musicians were amazing and a joy to listen to. The dancers too were fantastic and I heard comments in the loo that they were better than Riverdance (I have never seen it so can't comment). The only thing that I wasn't too keen on was the lead female singer - I did not like her voice although other people in the audience seemed to love her, I guess it's just a matter of personal taste.
Overall it was a very enjoyable family evening out enjoyed by all of us.

The story took us through the lives of a young irish couple looking to better themselves. He went off to England and then America and didn't come back! Dancing and singing was superb.

Went to EOI with modest expectations which were never quite matched. In what seemed a very long two hours EOI managed to pack in just about every song and dance cliche: key changes,check, fake smiles to other performers, check..... you get the idea. The post interval homage to Stomp - and the link to Ireland was? - seemed under-rehearsed. At other times props were misplaced and the sound system had a spectacularly unpleasant mind of its own. The performers seemed to have been encouraged to over play just about every item: note to Director, 'less is more'. On the other hand the fiddle and penny whistle players were great: they deserve better. Finally, the end of show product marketing was unsubtle and left us searching for a quick exit.

Essence of Ireland was a truly stunning show with a poignant love story setting the scene for the all singing/all dancing performance. A true mixture of old and new songs, Irish and contemporary dance, lovely costumes, wonderful vocals with a great musical accompaniment. An evening of entertainment for all ages that kept us toe-tapping, clapping and singing along. Definitely worth going to see again!!!!

Unfotunately we didn't enjoy this as much as anticipated. The routines were very amatuerish and the loud music drowned out any dialogue or lyrics which made it impossible to follow the story. Even the pre-taped narrative was too loud making if difficult to make out and the female soloist had a voice that would crack crystal - it was ear-shattering. I wouldn't book this again.

This is the best show I've seen for a while, it is on a parr with Riverdance if not better. It had a story, song, dance, everything you could want out of a show was there. It had all the old Irish traditional songs, with new and update ones thrown in too. It was just pure brilliance and quintessentially Irish. We were also given the chance to meet some of the stars of the show, post show as well, what more could you want for!

This a brilliant show, with such a "feel good" factor that it ought to be available on prescription. The company involve the audience throughout their performance, and you cannot help but feel that you are part of it. There are brilliant solo performances, great dance routines, and some fantastic music. I've seen the show three times now, and although members of the company have changed, it has taken nothing from it at all. I can't wait for my fourth visit.

Given the size of the vanue, this was never going to be riverdance, but it was a great production.The dancers were superb as were the singers. The only downside was the main women on the guitar who thought she was the star of the show, but clearly wasn't !

I cannot fault this show. It is an absolute brilliant show. This is the fifth time I have seen Essence Of Ireland. It was an enjoyable evening and many thanks to everyone in the band plus singer for signing my program at the very end. I would see this show time and time again

Good show well danced with good band and sound, lots of variety of music and wonderful drummer. would have felt better if tickets had arrived on time instead of two days late! Ticketmaster did manage to arrange duplicates on the day.

Excellent. A really good show with a good mixture of dance, music, singing and some comedy! Both the musicians and dancers were extremely talented and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. A childrens dance troup were also brought on for a section and there was a tiny little girl, probably about age 2-3, she was gorgeous and her dancing was amazing for someone so young.
