... is what Bumble would have said after about ten minutes of this embarrassing show. This was the worst live show I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of live shows and sporting events. The challenges were the sort of events you might see at sports day at primary school – according to the programme, the Technical Director is Jimmy Adams, the former West Indies Test cricketer! The props used in the challenges looked like they were made in the nursery during the ‘colouring in’ lessons.
As for the presenters, they appeared to have no knowledge of cricket and were very poor interviewers. Umpire Charlie Dagnall was slightly better but his cheap gags about match fixing were unnecessary, not funny and in very poor taste. I assume that most of the players knew this was likely to be rubbish from the minute they signed up but, according to press reports, they were paid thirty grand each. To be fair, most of them entered into the spirit of the evening. The most notable exceptions were Flintoff, Harmison and Boon.
Apparently Sky is showing highlights of the ‘event’ – they should be able to squeeze in all the highlights in one of the short breaks between adverts.
