Quo Great, not wild about Wilde
LG Arena @
- Birmingham @
The evening opened at 7pm with Kim Wilde. She really didn't look as though she had made any effort turning up in dirty black jeans and a black top. Her backing singer though was a different matter, a very short, very revealing little silver number. She began to get the evening going and by the time she got round to Kids in America, most of the audience had warmed to her. She was on stage for about 35 mins singing old and new. Then we waited and waited and waited.
Eventually Roy Wood arrived on stage and belted out some of his greats. He did try to play the bagpipes at one stage but this failed miserably! He did say BEFORE EVERY SONG "join in with the chours, it woud really help!"
Then came the Quo. Brilliant! Yes they missed words out, missed lines out at some stage, but they were fantastic! It was their first night so was a little rough around the edges but their energy and committment to their fans shone through.
Then they all came on stage. THIS WAS A DISASTER! No-one knew what they were doing. They had music stands on stage, Roy Wood was constantly looking over for cues from the Quo and Kim Wilde had no idea what key she needed to be in!
