Absolutely love Alex Clare's album, like most people started with hearing his song 'Too Close' on an advert. Loved his voice and so was determined to see him live. I'm a gig addict, so seeing him was also the first time I'd been to the KOKO camden. Amazing venue, intermate, old fashioned, great views and the cheaper drinks before 8pm was the cherry on the top. Support act first was Seye (as he said you remember it beacuse it's eyes spelt backwards), was good a couple of good songs got the crowd bopping along but I have to say a little forgettable - sorry.
And so the main guy comes on opens with his better album tracks, relax my beloved and hummingbird, atmosphere steps up a knotch crowd straight into a sing-a-long. Then does a several slower tracks, nice but it quitens down then back into it after a while with Up all night crowd goes wild and the band stretch it out at the end to finish it off. He's back on stage with the encore with Prince's cover When Doves Cry (my fav), amazing club tune and his voice is incredible - short acoustic session with just him and his guitar amazing as it just shows how good he is live, and then the finarly of Too Close which just made the whole atmosphere explode and top off an amazing show.
Loved every minute and you could tell Alex Clare was a bit starstruck as it had been his biggest gig to date and he couldn't believe it was sold out.
Would highly recommend if you get the chance to see him live do it, faultless show and his voice is just as good as it is recorded - no even better!

I have been to Manchester academy a few times and like the intamacy of the venue so was happy that Alex was playing here. I arrived early so managed to get a really good spot by the stage barrier so I had no restrictions to me view! Seyemusic was te support act and his African ska type beats were fab he had great stage presence and seemed to get all the crowd going. When Alex arrived onstage the crowd were immense! I think even he was taken aback at the response. Alex has a very soulful raspy voice that seems to improve when singing live which not many artists can do! His cover of etta James damn your eyes was amazing! Cannot fault any of his performance his voice really is one of the best I've heard live and his band are extremely talented. If you haven't heard much of Alex Clare make sure you download/ buy his album I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!!!

Alex Clare was actually amazing, I have listened and enjoyed his music before the show but live he was incredible!! Would definatly recommend this even if your not a fan, he was really good a getting the crowd into it and his voice is actually amazing!!! Really enjoyed :)

This was the best night I have had in a long time .. Alex was amazing such a brilliant raw voice and soo talented, he looked truely overwhelmed at the response he got :D I would defo go again to see him it was amazing . Support acts and band where amazing too most definatley recommend this :) :)

Alex Clare is such a beautiful man with such a beautiful voice!
Manchester really went crazy for him, it was just brilliant.
Everyone was singing with him and screaming for him so much that he had to sit down because he was so taken aback. It was just amazing.

Alex Clares voice is better live than on his album. His husky tones resounded round the venue and made gave me goosbumps! His band bought the music to life and extra intrumentals of the tracks blew my mind!

Absolutely outstanding.
This guy can put on a show.
He and his band were just unbelievable.
What great songs. Amazing voice.
Superb show all round.
Not sure why he chose not to swear in 'treading water' song but we respected him more for that. Kudos to the guy!

Alex Clare's vocals are second to none and his refreshing brand of indie / dance / rock tracks will have you captivated, dancing and stood in awe of his genius. Technically Alex is part of a 4 piece band, complete with bassist, drummer and keys, all of whom make excellent 'sex' faces while passionately consuming themselves in the music they are making.

His cover's of Prince's 'when doves cry' and his cover of 'humming bird' were great takes on already great tracks.

The Bodega Social was a very intimate venue, and allowed for Alex's personality to shine through as he interacted with the small crowd that gathered to get a first listen of this sure as hell soon to be main stream act. Making jokes and having banter with the majority of the crowd. After the band stuck around for drinks and a bit of a social and proved to be a great bunch of lads as well... I wish them all the best and can't wait to see them live again!

All in all I recommend Alex Clare to anyone - Youtube him, and of course - buy his album, out July 11th 2011.
