If you ever want to see what it really means to love music see The Civil Wars. They were hypnotic on friday night, possibly the best concert I have been to. There support act was brilliant too and really compatiable with their music style.

Seen them twice now and both times were simply brilliant. Took some friends who'd never heard of them and they came out and said they loved it.

The whole night was a treat from beginning to end with all three acts giving something that made it exceptional. Like a 3 course dinner, the entrée of Fossil Collective was easy on the ear while being savoury enough to whet your appetite and the starter of The Lumineers was fresh and full enough to leave us read for the main course (especially brilliant was the "unlplugged" rendition they gave"). Obviously Joy & John Paul were more than enough to make up for skipping dessert and I personally left the venue feeling quite full and satisfied that I had a great evening. I kind of wish I could have caught them at a time when they weren't so big to see them at a more intimate venue. But at least I can catch The Lumineers at Manchester Gorilla next year!

This was such a different choice of concert to what i usually do, but it was amazing! One of the best concerts i've been too! Loved every minuet, the civil wars were so warm and friendly, it made you think of them like they were family! Their voices sounded immaculate, perfect harmonies! Cant wait for next time!

From the first note they were astonishing!! Singing was note perfect and entrancing. Guitar and piano were all that was added. Amazing virtuosity! The audience was noisy and loved the whole performance. I was completely caught up in their performance. Fabulous!

I caught The Civil Wars on Jools...and was blown away with the live show...I then bought the album and loved it, played it to death then got some tickets...months later I go to this gig expecting good things...the support act were okay but bad sound put me off! The main event was outstanding, fantastic...from the moment they came on the place erupted and I remembered why the Glasgow crowds are the best...then during the songs it was unbelievably quiet...no talking...then eruption of applause after each song...quiet again...and they played perfectly! I got transported and transfixed...best gig I have ever been to, Thank you Civil Wars

This gig was just amazing!!
Missed the first support band...then the Lumineers came on!! absolutely brilliant-heard a few of their songs before but they had such great energy and great voices it was a real treat.

THEN.... The Civil Wars came on.....what can i say apart from....JUST INCREDIBLE!!
the harmonising was perfect-crystal clear-and such a lovely experience in general!!

Saw them earlier in the year and loved them but this gig was even better. How two folk & a guitar can hold the attention of an entire venue like the O2 Academy is amazing to see. A hushed venue in all the right places. They seemed genuinely chufted to have the reaction they got - it was endearing. Hardly any chat compared to last time I saw them which was a shame as you missed their warmth and humour.

Support by fossil collective was a great start to an amazing night of live music. Then the lumineers came on who had a brilliant stage presence and the audience participation was enjoyable. When the civil wars came on the Glasgow crowd were outstanding ! The duo seemed shocked by the response of the audience! Pin drop quiet in all the right places and joining in at all the right places! Was really special. Joy and John Paul Are magical together - there voices match beautifully and you can't stop staring at joy I found! Her voice is like an instrument ! Overall a really magical gig and smashing crowd. If you missed it this time - try get tickets for their next gig!!!! X

This is the second time I have seen The Civil Wars the first was in Feburary this year in Edinburgh when they blew me away. This time I took along a friend who had never heard of them.

Firstly the atmosphere was electric and it was clear from John Paul and Joy's reaction it was more than they were expecting too. They are quite simply a class act and bring music back to its origins in my opinion.

And my friend, she thought it was the best concert she had been too and bought loads of merchandise and is converted.

Can't wait for them to come back to Scotland again.

Quite simply a stunning gig. The talent of these 2 guys is just amazing, and the fact that they reduced the whole place to absolute silence speaks volumes (no mean feat at any concert, let alone a gig on a Friday night in Glasgow).H

This is a must see act. The vocals, harmonies and guitar work are amazing. The Glasgow crowd went mental for them and they responded. Powerful and raw, I can't wait to see them again

This duo are absolutely fantastic- I have been to many concerts including stadium tours and this was one of the best ever The vocals were superb as was the guitar playing and they had the audience in the palm of their hands throughout.There were no special effects just simple quality and talent The audience was a wide range of ages but all appreciated the memorable songs and also some very good covers. I will definitely keep an eye out for them coming back as I am now a fan!

They make me wish I could sing - they are just amazing!! Pitch perfect and so together. They are also very appreciative of the audience. Their gigs are just gonna keep getting bigger and bigger which is great for them but not so good for me. When I saw them in Queens Hall in Edinburgh the order was fantastic - you could have heard a pin drop. O2 Academy was noisy and people were talking all the way through which really got my back up. Why go to a gig to hear such a fantastic band and then practically ignore them???

This gig was unforgettable. Joy and JP were so shocked at how popular they were in Scotland and were so grateful for the support.
The first 2 bands that played were also great. As soon as I left, I bought The Lumineers' album!

From the moment they took to the stage, the duo had the audience captivated by every word they sang, and every strum of John Pauls guitar resonated throughout the hall. The atmosphere swayed from the foot stomping energy during "Barton Hollow" to pin drop silence during "Falling". The audience were blown away after the first song and it was clear the duo on stage were just as blown away by their fans reaction, as they stood shaking their heads in disbelief at the rapturous applause each and every song generated. The pair perfectly completed each others vocals, creating a powerful, magical stage presence - one which I (and I'm sure every other person in the venue) could not take their eyes off of. Their musci is so minimalist, but at the same time so full of emotion - I will DEFINITELY be going to see them again the next time around :) The only downside is that I felt their time on stage was very brief, I could have stood listening to them play for another hour at least!
