Had a great time at the o2 didn’t have enough time but still spent 6 hours there.
We went to the Open mic event which was 24 acts plus the results at the end.
I think we should have stayed in London instead of commuting.
All the acts were good especially Karl Palmer who sang Nessun dorma.
All he facilities in the indego2 and o2 were good with no complaints and all the staff were good so many restaurants in small area £23 for 4 good meals bargan.

Having heard about some of the exciting new acts that had taken part in the regional finals, especially those North of the border, we decided to go and see the grande finale in style at the O2. We were shocked to find that so many of the acts were glorified karioke singers (performing to backing tracks) and rappers?? Just what they need in the States... more rappers... from Stoke!! Thoroughly enjoyed the real musicians, the likes of John Irvine,Jake McGarry, Charlotte Oram and Beki Robinson, who played their own songs on their own instruments and performed beautifully to the audience. Lots of originality there and lots of talent too. Wept for the future of British music industry though, when we heard the results. The acts voted as winners were ALL the acts that we had ALL decided were those least likely to win based on originality, talent and performance. Simon Cowell's influence seems ever present in the musical taste of London judges, Annie Nightingales plea for "More guys playing guitars" fell on deaf ears, it seems.

Have to say there seemed to be a north/south divide going on in this competition. Despite the majority of the musical talent coming from the Northern half of the UK the judges seemed to prefer the lower standards of the Southern contestants. Not sure what the judges were looking for but have not seen a quicker exit or a more puzzled audience reaction to the winning announcement. A good job there are other routes to success for our budding young musicians eh?!

There was loads of talent on that stage, some exceptional, some ok, some poor. the winner was ok and was toraly underwhelmed at the anoncement of winning the competition.I feel that this competition was aimed at the R&b side of the music industry, not an open mic talent competition as billed.this was evident on the faces of the audience when the winners were announced and choice of song content. The under sixteens category should have been announced after there set, as it was a long day for the children to cope with, starting with long journeys for some, rehearsals from nine. Then there set. followed by every body ellses sets. maybe,the top three should have stayed? as the overall excitement and disappointment was far to much for some of the younger children to cope with
