Brilliant show if you are a fan its a great way to appreciate the album, dancers, singers and the whole effect is amazing. we are definately all going back to watch it again. Have seen the band play live they are brilliant and this isnt like someone trying to be a tribute singer to the songs it just different way of hearing the album.

I decided to see this more-or-less on an impulse, and as it turned out it created various problems which may have coloured my opinion. It's billed as a musical but in fact is more of a ballet - although perhaps it would be likely to put people off if they called it that! I'm not sure if any of the songs were specifically written for this but clearly many weren't, which must have limited what they could do as a story - it includes most of their well-known songs although not Basket Case, plus several others. There's almost no dialogue and only a fairly thin plot about the travails of three friends, which is fairly bleak although with a happy ending of sorts. Essentially what you get are a series of dance sequences to Green Day songs. Assuming you like Green Day (which I do) there's nothing wrong with that; the musical performances were competent, although the drummer didn't seem as good as Tre, and the dancing and set were fine, but there's nothing really special and the whole thing is fairly short. Overall it's worthwhile for Green Day fans, but not something to go out of your way to see.

There were no weak links in the production. The entire cast was highly talented, we were grabbed from the first line. Thoroughly worth the visit up from the West Country.

The show itself was really good with a very enthusiastic cast taking on loads of different roles. Music was of course brilliant and worked well to the storyline.

The only grumble me and my other half had was the venue itself. The Apollo was not full, and as its a big theatre, it felt very cavernous. Therefore, there were times when it felt flat, with very little audience reaction other than clapping as songs ended. Also although the music was loud, it wasn't as loud as I'd expected/hoped. A smaller venue, with the audience more packed in, would have improved both these issues - I wanted the music pounding around us and people on their feet singing/dancing by the end, but it didn't happen.

Still thoroughly enjoyed it though.

I was at the opening night in Southampton and the cast were just as fresh and enthusiastic on this final UK performance. One minor quibble was "St Jimmy" was not the one I saw in Southampton, and although I couldn't complain about his performance, he didn't have quite the same presence as the St Jimmy on opening night. My ambition is to see it on Broadway now.

American Idiot was BRILLIANT! The music, singing, choreography, costume and set were all perfect; I would happily have sat and watched another performance straight away. My fifteen year old daughter described it as "really hard core" , a big compliment!

The music was great but that's because green day are great.

Choreography was cheesy - lead singers were probably only in lead roles due to their looks and many in the chorus were actually more talented.

There are a few good moments but its the music that saves the show. The story was disjointed and seemed that it was trying too hard.

Only worth it if you want to listen to good music - if you want a story to go with it, its probably not worth the money

This was my third time seeing the musical and it did not disappoint. The show is spectacular - well paced, exciting and with a great story. The songs sit perfectly within the story, telling a moving tale of the destruction of society and individuals' fight to find meaning and purpose in their lives. The acting is fantastic...each of the actors plays their role beautifully, there is nothing superfluous, every detail adds something - and there are some perfectly nuanced little details in there.

American Idiot the musical was simply amazing. I am a huge Green Day fan myself and have been for about 7 years now, but i imagine that this show would appeal to any Arts lover, GD fan or not. It took me a while to get used to the arrangements of some of the songs, but you just end up loving what they've done with it. All the cast are awesome, great set, great visuals. Just brilliant! Highly recommended.

The show was over too quickly - the time went in a flash which is always i sign we are really enjoying it. My 11 year old loved it - but then she loves Green Day. Have seen lots of musicals in the west end and this rates as one of our favourites. Something a bit different - but you need to like Green Day !!!

An interpretation of a career defining album, of one of the world's biggest bands, and with such a strong fan following, was always going to be held with high expectations. American Idiot the Musical has proved just how powerful these songs are, given new voices to sing them, and shown how this medium can bring new emotions and depth to many for whom this was their first theatre experience. The wire acrobatics during Extraordinary Girl were amazing, the screens gave so many subtle references to the band and the album which might go past many viewers heads, but the dedication to the music definitely shows, and really the whole performance from every member of the cast was fantastic and the band who excited the crowd with every note, high respect to the conductor who kept it together whilst playing along himself. A captivating show all round.

I had a constant lump in my throat the whole way through the musical. The acting and dancing was superb, whilst the singing voices were impeccable and gave a different spin on the songs.

I loved the storyline, it was perfect and everything I expected. You feel as if you've been on a journey when you walk out of the theatre, with an emotional attachment to every single one of the characters.

I just wonder whether any 'non' Green Day fans would appreciate it though.
