I must have been at a completely different event to the previous reviewer; I thought it was brilliant. I especially enjoyed the container gardening display, and took note of many plant names for my own use. The Ark was full of children's craft work on the theme of protecting the environment and gave me lots of ideas for the children's group I work with. The 'dry' garden set out by Beth Chatto was beautiful. I loved the sculptures made of car parts which were hanging in the trees, and I found out about an amazing biodiversity project which I'm trying to interest people in locally. There was a succession of things for children to do - and it was fun seeing the famous people involved in the events running on the live stage. I wandered around the Garden Party for ages and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Let's do it again - please!

Three of us (60+s) went up to London for this event and were looking forward to it. But we left after about half an hour three very disappointed ladies and went across the road to the Victoria and Albert exhibition in the Buckingham palace State Rooms where we had a far better time.
The garden' party' was totally lacking in party atmosphere. It reminded us of an exhibition only half erected. As though half the exhibitors had not bothered to turn up and those that had were fed up with standing around. Most of the stands were unimaginative and the event was totally lacking in atmosphere.
The best fun we had was a game of snakes and ladders on the outsize garden version but, surprisingly (and perhaps thankfully) no-one came to ask us if we were interested in buying the game - in fact, we have no idea who was in charge of it.
The gardens themselves were also disappointing. The fruit and veg on display were very poor.
On the up side - M&S and Waitrose made a good effort. Weather was good!
Good concept, badly managed.
