because I am a horse lover of many years, I thought that a show naming itself THE ROYAL HORSE GALA. at the O2 ticket priced at £50 would be spectacular, well i was WRONG. After the first 15 minutes we wore thinking, very nice, would assume it would be getting better. but it still dragged on at the same pace, too much of the same dressage, which I know is very skilled, but there was too much of the same.
The second half was promised to be more exiting !! well it did get exciting at the very end!!
Too late by then, would not be going to another one.

Fantastic skill and horsemanship, ruined by poor lighting, sound, and support. It appeared to be very evident that the matinee performance was being used as a dress rehersal for paying customers. The announcer had not read his lines before, frequently paused, and missed his cues. The first display had to be restarted as the music cut and could not be restarted. The sound levels frequently were raised to boom / distortion levels. The spotlight staff frequently missed their cues, and could not track their subjects properly. The whole show did not flow correctly, and ended up overruning - with many of the audience having to leave well before the end of the show. On the whole, a very amateur production, definiately not worth the £35 per seat paid.

We did enjoy it, but there were one or two glitchs which seemed due to lack of preparation concerning the opening of the curtain.
It over-ran by an hour in total which wasn't a problem to us, but could be to others if they are booked on a certain train.

Was spectacular but a bit long, we were nearly falling asleep, could have done with being about an hour shorter really. Was really good though and I would see it again.

I did enjoy the Gala, but felt it had not been advertised enough and the tickets were expensive which might account for a poor turnout.
I felt the commentator was sloppy with his hands in his pockets at the beginning.
The horses were fantastic but would have preferred to see a mix of dressage with the 'entertainment' pieces rather than all the dressage at the beginning then the 'entertainment in the second half.
The laying down of the horses and riding in canter bareback and bridleless got repetitive, although the rest of the entertainment pieces were very good.

Well, where do I start! When I booked my tickets I obviously thought I was booking the best seats available. I received two seats on row W, 1st Level, however, I was not best pleased to discover the place was barely half full and we could have sat much nearer the front (which in fact we did following the interval).
Although some of the displays of horsemanship were very good, they were, as far as we were concerned, let down by the ridiculous lighting arrangements. When four riders were attempting a quadrille, one was in the spotlight, two in semi-light and one in near darkness!
The arena had been laid with sand, not the best of surfaces as demonstrated by one of Jean-Marc Imbert's horses who slipped!
The fact that one had to remove one's bottletop for health and safety reasons, when a ton of horse flesh was careering around through fire!! was, quite frankly ludicrous.
I feel this really was not an appropriate venue for an equine display.

The show was most enjoyable and it was most special to see that variety of Stallions in one place. I expected to see more Lipizaners. The display by the French man was fantastic and it is wonderful to see such natural horse control.
I do find the tickets were overpriced and hence the Arena was not very full. Had they made it a little cheaper more people would have come.

Overall we found this show disappointing. There was no flow to the performance and felt like a lot of filler acts put together. We also found it quite repetitive (once you've seen a horse lie down on command, you don't need to keep seeing it).
Also found it annoying that people were using flash photography all the way through.

Went with family - was interesting, but first half bit long & bit dreary. Second half more entertaining & would have liked to see more stunts rather than the dressage.
Overall ok, but not worth the price paid for the tickets!
Only go if you are really, really into horses (or get cheaper prices!)

This show was a good mixture of more traditional dressage and classic displays together with high octane entertainment with speed and agility of both riders and horses. The non contact and no bridle work displays was fascinating. The dressage movements of the horse and rider in the dark with only lights on was spectacular and well done to them both. It was such a shame that the event had not been advertised better. I attended on the Sunday and the arena was not even half filled. I saw the advert in a newspaper sent from relatives living in Somerset. I live in Hampshire.

Terrific show if you are a dressage lover and appreciate how the horses are put through their paces, especially in the first part of the event. as such, the first part of the event does not keep children or non horsey people engaged for the whole hour and a half, whilst the second part is hugely entertaining and enjoyable for all.

As a dad of four girls, horses and ponies have always featured in our family life. My oldest is married, but to give the three youngest (all teenagers) a treat I booked five tickets to the Royal Horse Gala - for my three youngest girls, my wife and myself. Personally I was expecting to see a 'nice' show - some dressage, a few jumps, circus act kind-of things, stuff basically I could have a nap through, while the girls enjoyed the horseees!!!
Nothing could have prepared me for the 'VISUAL FEAST' and excitement that I was to witness and be amazed by! The show was awesome - from the sublimely beautiful Flamenco dancer and horse 'duet' to the crazy Frenchman 'Horse-Whisperer' who with his no-holds-barred stunts showed he was fitter, tougher and stronger than men half his age. And throughout all the acts the stars of the show - the horses themselves - were all at once graceful, powerful, majestic, playful, obedient and 'at one' with their masterful human trainers and friends.
I would recommend this to everyone - just go and see for yourselves, you won't regret it! Hopefully the Royal Horse Gala will return to the UK next year. We'll be there - and that's my girls talking. God Bless.
