I saw Anneke Van Giersbergen twice in 2011, when I went to see Within Temptation live in both Birmingham and London. I was looking forward to seeing Anneke, having seen footage of her perform with WT before. However, she was still 'just the support act', until she started playing.
She had simple staging, just her and her band, but with such infectious energy! I was mesmerised by her ballads and invigorated by her up-tempo tracks.
When I went to the London gig a week later, I was just as excited to see Anneke as I was Within Temptation (who are also incredible live), and she delivered again.

She definitely changed my perception of the 'support act', who I usually want to finish quickly so the headliner can get on - I didn't want Anneke to leave the stage.
I would definitely pay to see her in a headlining show. Would recommend for fans of WT, Alannis Morrisette, Christina Perri, Lana Del Rey.
