If you are a Johnny fan then you should thoroughly enjoy this. As Robert Dean says, he is not a Johnny 'look-a'like' but he definitely has a great voice, very like Johnny Cash and he tells his life story in a very heart-warming, enjoyable way. The songs were great and were performed exceptionally well by Robert and the band. A must see!

I think the title The Johnny Cash Story is a misnomer. This is a tribute band with a bit of commentarry. No problem with the quality and range of songs but not what I expected

The show looked back across the whole career of Johnny Cash and was brilliant. At times it felt like Johnny Cash was in the room, the commentary on Johnny's life was chilling at times, you could imagine you were there with him.

The backing group complemented Roger Dean brilliantly.

The Johnny Cash Show was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to any fan of Johnny Cash.

A good balance of telling the story of Johnny's life and singing his songs.

Roger Dean told the Johnny Cash story exactly how I wanted it to hear, from the heart.
Every song and every story he told about the man in black had the audience riveted.
Any Johnny Cash fan would not be disappointed seeing these fine musicians.
A great night.

I travelled from Cambridgshire to see this show in Birmingham and it was literally (with no word of a lie) the best night out I've had in ages... I love Johnny Cash's music and I thought these guy where the best. I've seen othher shows dedicated to Johnny Cash i.e. The Johnny Cash Roadshow and Ring of Fire and Keep it Cash but Roger Dean out does alll of them. You are watching a true seasoned pro with Roger, not like the others who are hiding behind this idea that they can pretend to be the man himself. Roger is himself all the way through and is a lovely story telller, he sounds just like the man himself as well which is spooky. I must say I'm disapointed by the negative comments on here, the negativity doesn't line up with the show that I went to see... the show i saw in Birmingham was stunning, well stageds, emotional in parts (my wife was crying towwards the end) and above all the band where great... the musicians themselves are some of country musics heavy weight session men. Cash himself wa sa simple man with no glitz and glamour and this show was similar, no silly costume changes, but they where worthy of the london Palladium in my opinon... Everyone around me was loving the show!! Well done boys, see you again soon

It almost sounds like those who didn't like it never actually attended this show at all!
I certainly did and as a long standing Johnny Cash fan and as a musician and someone who has worked in theatre for a long time i was incredibly impressed by Dean's performance and by that of his band!! He is a first class showman who toold a wonderful story along with alll the hits we have come to know from cash himself and to be honest if you closed your eyes it sounded like the great man himself. For the one comment saying that it should haave been billed as "Roger Dean sings The Johnny Cash Story" well I'm looking at the poster that I took home from the theatre and it says exactly that, so I dunno what you're saying. The show was remarkable mr Dean, take it from someone who knows entertainment... I would say the story could be consolodated just a little, but that's not a critical comment it's just my opinion from the audience! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TOURS AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN AT BIRMINGHAM!

I cannot believe the attitude of some people who have left comments on this show. What ever the expected is baffeling... "we found out as much about Roger Dean as we did Johnny Cash"??? Do you mean the 3 minutes at the start where Roger Dean explained how he got into Cash and how the great man remained his idol?? After that I recal nothing more than wonderful facts on Cash along with the music he made famous, some lesser known songs and all the big hits. I think some people should realise how many songs the guy wrote and also remember that it is not good theatre to put all the big hits at the start, you scatter them around! he's a darn sight better than that Cash Roadshow, the only stuttering Johnny Cash I've seen. Roger doesn't set out to be Johnny Cash, he told us all that from the start!!! I for one thought it was a remarkable show and very enjoyable and i will be seeing it again when it is near me and will travel a bit to see it if I have to! LOVED IT!!!

Didn't know what to expect as my hubby is a huge Johnny Cash fan and I bought him tickets to see Roger Dean for christmas.
The show was brilliant, the steel guitar player was fantastic and Roger Dean put on a fab show. My hubby was very pleased with his pressy.

I do not understand what some of these people are complaining about. The show is called "The Johnny Cash Story Starring Roger Dean and The Lazy Boys" and that is what was delivered, Roger a local star telling the story of Johnny's rise to fame from craddle to his grave along with all the songs that fitted into each part of that well life - the photos show a great band!!! REMARKABLE showman and story teller- come back again we loved it!

We took my father-in-law to this show for his 70th birthday and it was great!

We all really enjoyed the live music - the band was extremely talented and the front man was brilliant!

I would definitely recommend The Johnny Cash Story.

Total waste of money - not a musical or a story but a small band trying to be somebody that they are not! The singing has actually put me off Johnny Cash slightly as i can't listen in the same way again. We left after the first hour and it was painful to stay that long.

I went along with my daughter who is a big jonny cash fan but I must say I really enjoyed it also. If you closed your eyes it was like jonny cash was singing the songs also the band were great also. Its a credit to them all lead singer was fantastic.

True to its title, the show took the form of Johnny Cash's life story, and the presentation was excellent. The show was outstanding, and whilst not billed as a "tribute", vocals, instrumentals and movement were so close to what one has come to recognise as the Johnny Cash presentation, as to be easily mistaken for the original.

I really had no idea what to expect, but what I got was the absolutely fantastic Johnny Cash soundalike, Roger Dean, and his band. Wow! What a talented singer he is, and I guess it was the next best thing to having the real Johnny Cash on stage.
He sang a few numbers, then told us a bit about Johnny Cash, then sang a few more then gave us a bit more biography, and so on. It was a great formula that really worked, for me. His band were great too, and he gave them much-deserved credit.
If I had any disappointment at all, it was that I didn't know quite a few of the songs in the first half of the show, but then that's my fault, not theirs! The second half more than made up for it, with all his great hits, and more besides. What an absolutely outstanding evening's entertainment, very highly recommended. A must-see for all Johnny Cash fans.

Unfortunately we walked out half way through as did many others around us. The singer had a lovely voice but telling a few stories about Jonny Cash and then singing unheard of songs was not our idea of fun. Very disappointing.
