Saw Monsters of Folk last night at their very first gig on European soil, at the Cardiff Coal Exchange. They were simply awesome, playing the album in its entirety, and interspersing the MoF numbers with songs from the individual members back catalogue. As an MMJ fa, it was beautiful to hear JIm James perform his numbers either solo or with one of either Matt, Mike or Conor, or - as with 'At Dawn' the full 5 piece band. A crowd of 300 - 400 people in a lovely, intimate venue were treated to some stone classics from the chaps, the highlights being Temazcal, Dear God, Sandman, Ahead of the Curve, Golden, Bermuda Highway, and a stunning rendition of His Master's Voice, which closed the show.
