When Tinariwen hit the stage and opened with the first track we all knew we was in for a treat! such good vibes, the hypnotic rhythms, the dancing, the authenticity . They seem to have captured the audience bringing something refreshing to the ears of many people.
You can distinctly hear the influence of the Mali legend Ali Farka Toure in the lead singer's guitar style/voice but with their own spin on it, more chaotic and energetic in comparison. The constant transitions of very soft mellow spiritual songs to the upbeat desert chanting and dancing songs. They captivated their audience making us feel for those very few moments at the HMV Forum the spirit of the Mali desert!
Overall it was a brilliant gig! but i do wish they played more stuff from their second album Aman Iman: water is life. That would of really given me this review a 5 stars. ( i really really wanted them to play "Assouf" my favourite track)
