What a brilliant evening. All my children (aged 18, 15 and 12) really enjoyed it. The movement of the stage along the railway track is really original as is the seating on the platforms. The whole atmosphere (partly through being able to hear the trains at Waterloo in the background at times) is wonderful. I was a bit doubtful at first about adults playing children, but you soon completely bought into it and went along with the story.

A much loved story given a new angle, a fantastic production and an unforgettable experience. Have recommended to all my friends should it return next Christmas. A very different show from anything you have seen before. Suitable for all children from 5 to 100 years................

Wonderful experience being in the train station the show was so enjoyable and I imagine for children who have never seen the film (read the book) it would be just amazing.

Only downside I found was the cramped seating...I am small and short legs, but my friend next to me isn't he was so uncomfortable and had marks left on his legs from the seat in front! Barely room to breathe.

I went with my 11yr old and we both had a great time.
It wasn't cold and time went by very quickly.
All in all a very good show, well presented in an unusual setting.

2nd time I've been, outstanding show. Only disappointment on 2nd show, the audiapnce didn't wave the flags to STOP STOP STOP the train, thankfully the up tulipred petty coats did the job!!

This is a MUST SEE as it's SO different! The use of a REAL steam engine is
such an amazing sight when it makes it's appearance at the end of the first
half and stays visible just off stage for the rest of the show. The other sound effects
are also very impressive, for instance passing across the stage as a train moves
through the sation.
The acting is also excellent and it doesn't matter where you sit, even at the
back (as I was) I could still see everything cleary and hear every word.
Brilliantly done and worth every penny!

The show is performed on 2 stages with a moving stage running on the railway lines. It's a very clever play which really gives you the impression you're watching the trains go by and the interactions between the characters.

First class.

It says to get there by 2pm for the matinee, but 2:15 is fine.

A great show in a unique setting, well acted and kept our children entertained throughout. Great for all ages the only downside being tight legroom in the temporary seating if your 6' plus. Loved the stage changes and of course the steam train is a highlight. Great day put for all the family.

As a fan of the original film I wondered how this production would fare, particularly given the limitations of using a railway line as the venue. My wonderings were quickly put aside when the imagination of the director, the creativity of the set designer and the excellent performances of the cast delivered a runaway express that steamed through any doubts I had. The use of the trolleys to bring and take away stage and set to and from the place of action was swiftly and unobtrusively executed, and I found my memory drawing from the film to fill any gaps. The use of the real live steam train was superb and we were treated to the real carriage from the film that made the connections between the two events more palpable. It was a great evenings entertainment and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Different concept to what I was expecting but very good and very inventive. Audience does need a sense of imagination which is expressed by the cast on a couple of occasions. Story is told in the past tense which you have to remind yourself occasionally.

Only drawback is the seating. No leg room at all. Enyone over 5 feet tall will be uncomfortable. My wife had backache by the end and she is not overly tall. I am over 6 feet and had to have my knees jammed into the 'V' either side of the seat in front of me, with my backside jammed against the back of the seat. If the production hadn't been so good, we probably wouldn't have stayed due to the discomfort.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. The wonderful book was brought to life in the most inventive and imaginative way. A truly fantastic piece of theatre. As my daughter and friends described it: "Awesome"

A brilliantly produced and performed play. The station location and wonderful old steam train just completed the magic for this superb performance.
Enjoyable for all ages and a very true representation of the original story.
The venue was jolly cold at Waterloo on December 16th. Thermals, coats, hats and gloves recommended.

My 13 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed "The Railway Children".It was extremely well acted and the stage set was fantastic. The whole play had such a wonderful feel good factor about it too.We came away feeling really uplifted and our faith in the goodness of human nature at its best had been restored!
