I have had the OBC recording of Spring Awakening for some time and was willing it to come to London. I was thrilled when it came out at the Lyric and saw it as soon as possible. The cast, set, lighting, music - everything - was stunning and completely faultless. I didn't have one bad word to say and thought it was inevitable that it would transfer to the West End, which naturally it did. The premature closing of the show was a shock to me as the production was, as I say, incredible. I think the marketing for the show was what let it down...it targeted the student age generation using the internet and unfortunately not enough people were encouraged to come and see the show. Hence low ticket sales. I say bring it back and use better advertising methods to reach all ages!! One of the best things about the show in my opinion is the score - the harmonies just soar, and give you that feeling when your spine goes tingly! Overall Spring Awakening was amazing and will be sadly missed in the West End.
