I have seen Gary & The Works twice before in 2003 / 04, both times I thought they were really great, the nearest I had ever heard to Freddie & Queen. So naturally when I heard they were touring again I immediately booked tickets, this time @ Sunderland.
Instead of improving after 10yrs, the vocals were strained, poor & often tailed off. The Band seemed uninterested and showed no signs of enjoyment at all. Mr Mullen appeared so full of himself we were made to feel like beggars begging for morsels. Several people I spoke to were there for the first time & quiried if "they are always like this?" my answer was "no, this is my third time but the previous twice they were brilliant". Perhaps a little reminder to the whole band....where they came from & who they really are would not be amiss.
When they 1st began touring the headline was "One night of Queen performed by Gary Mullen & The Works", this time it was "Gary Mullen & The Works, One night of Queen", ha, how times have changed, if I could I would have demanded a refund, along with the travel & parking costs- what a waste of a night, never again! If I attend any Queen tribute bands it will Never be this one again. Wake up & smell the coffee Mullen - Freddie replacement you're not & never will be, don't insult his memory by pouring out garbage as you did in Sunderland!!!!!
