This band from New Zealand have a sound all of their own & the vibe is so electric. The crowd that follow them are loyal & the atmosphere is relaxed.
I have been going to FFD gigs for 6 years now & they just get better every time.
AMAZING!!!!!

Sorry but just didn't feel this gig came together, was like watching/ listening to the schizophrenic scene off the movie Lost Highway where the guy goes nuts on his Sax..didn't feel the love, no flow to the songs that held it together, left early, that says it all.

They played all tube hits plus some new stuff. It was a good mix. Vocals were exactly the same as the album. Put on a good stage show too.

I'd not been to the venue before, but got in there and was nicely surprised. An old cinema that has great acoustics. support weren't really worth mentioning, though the female singer was great.

when fat freddys came on you could tell they were up for a good night. It took them a while to get going but crowd pleasers like 'this room' and 'wondering eye' helped the atmosphere escalate into a mass of dancing and singing along to the great tunes.

best gig i have ever been to fat fredys absolutely smashed it i feel like a 10 year old skool kid that has been struck with new obsession over a band. they need to come to Europe more, best live band that has come out for a while

I thought they were fantastic live. Great musicians. The combination of the sounds with the the DJ, brass and bass made a great performance. They played for 2 hours and had the crowd on their feet and sheering the whole time.

superb album (Dr.Boondigga) so had great expectations of FFD live.............. however came away slightly disappointed. Songs stretched out to the point where people began to lose interest and stopped dancing to chat. Band tight and charismatic and received rapturous support but for me 40 minute cd expressed more than 2 hour live set.

Between their past two UK shows, Fat Freddy's Dop have released their much-anticipated 2nd LP, which I have been savouring all summer. But their show on Monday proved yet again that although they are capable of making sublime music in the confines of the studio, it is really on stage that they shine.
This was evnident from their first song, "Shiverman": it didn't stick out as a particularly strong piece on Dr Boondigga & the Big BW, but it worked incredibly as an opening song, especially when the horn section dropped that bouncy line.
The rest of the set was a mixture of new songs from Boondigga and old favourites from True Story. One of the highlights came during Ray Ray, when the keyboard player finished his solo, he went into a riff that kept going when the horns came in, and these eventually started playing the same riff as they keyboard player...
My only regret was that they didn't play "The Nod", undoubtledly my favourite track from Boondigga, which left me singing "Somethin' cookin in the kitchen tonigh'ee" all the way home from their Roundhouse concert last year.

Fat Freddy's Drop are very talented, I went more for support for my partner who loves this group and got into them while travelling New Zealand. They know their instruments well and main singer has agreat voice. Definitely worth watching and CD is very mellow and great for when your chilling on a beach somwhere with a cocktail....
Definitely worth going straight to the front o get best view but once you go out for a drink you wont get back in that crowd.... enjoy!

This was the best gig ive been too. Fat freddys music is so fresh and soulful! and really came out that night. I really hope they produce more shows around london and the south! Only downside - no murchandice to buy and no signings after....would of really liked to meet them!

amazing live performance as usual, bass heavy and full of dirty funky beats. fat freddy's horn section are seriously bold and memories of the jb's, and maceo and the macs lift the spirit. full on, i want to live in new zealand just for more of these vibes.

It was my 1st time seeing Fat Freddy and i loved it!!! I did not know that the lead singer was so cute!!! Nice!!! Would def reccommend it to everyone. The atmosphere in the place was great, the people were so friendly! Its was awsome!!!

I learnt of this band via my brother in Australia who sent me a CD, which I have really enjoyed ,however they are 'so much more' live.
All in all a great way to spend a cold wet night in London.
Excellent music, excellent venue.

I hate to say it but I was really dissapointed with this gig, I've seen Fat Freddy's many times over the last 8 years, in New Zealand and in the UK at various gigs and festivals.
The sound in the Hammersmith Apollo didn't really help, and unless you were right at the front, it sounded too bassy and muffeled.
I'm not really keen on the new dancy sound either, please please go back to your reggae/dub vibes, it's what you do best and what your audience loves you for. There were times when I was a little bored and the band just weren't connecting with the audience.
Also, the MC you used, wasn't very good at all. Overall a very dissappointing gig,

Fat Freddys Drop were unforgettable live. You are able to feel the music run right through your body. The bass and trumpets sound amazing live, you can't get that sound on a recording. I sometimes worry that bands playing live will let people down but I would definately reccomend seeing them. Absoloutley fantastic! A quote from a guy there would be 'I feel like Ive been charged up with happiness for another few years!!'

Sweet tunes of fat freddies drop, would be better appreciated in a field on a summers eve.
The sound at the Apollo is some what contained as was the gig that eve, it was a monday i know but they never managed to quite lift it above the talking level that continued through out the gig .

I took my fiance to Fat Freddy's for his birthday. It was a Monday night and the Apollo was absolutely jam packed! The atmosphere was electric and Fat Freddy's really knew how to work the crowd. We had such a great night - it was certainly the best gig I have been to and the best I have seen Fat Freddy's. Thank you for such a great night.
