Wow. What a gig. Trully the only flaw was that Mew prove themselves to produce a sound too large for such a venue. As intimate and immense as any gig I have been to. Mew prove themselves to be the greatest "under appreciated" live band in the world at the moment. A sonic and visual expreience unlike any other you will see this year. A sheer assault on the senses in all the right ways. 12 days on I am still trying to get my head around it and trully absorb that it has been and gone. I am ever hopeful that at least ONE show on this tour makes its way on to DVD somehow...

What can i say that will give enough credit to this flawless perfromance.
From the very begining walking up past the park and seeing MEW spelled up top just sent exitment to my brain!
Enterning the venue you could taste the atmousphere from the crowed! The antisipation was intense washed down well with a white wine. Mew's perfromance was one not to be looked down aopn! The lights the eary smoke the backdrop of weird cretures and band members - Amazing!
The onchor what can i say comforting sounds was just genuis! It was like the end of an old movie when the hero had just been found after 10 years lost at sea. There was such contempment around the place in the last 9 minutes.
And there was lots of gossip on how amazing they were in the ladies afterwards
I hope everyone else enjoyed their night just as much as me!

I have loved Mew since the beginning but last night was the first time I've got to see them live. They have joined Sigur Ros and Mogwai as an incredibly emotional gig. I'm pretty grounded but just occassionally, music takes control of my emotions. I Don't mind admitting I was on such a (natural) high and honestly wept at the shear beauty of the performance whilst my hairs stood up on end the whole time. Those guys are on a totally different level - Music to move all the senses. Totally unforgettable.

Favourite moment: So many but the ice breaker for me was then they broke into "Am I Wry" and followed with "156" two of my most favourite Mew songs @

Setlist: the main setlist consisted of - Introducing Palace Players, Snow Brigade, Am I Wry, 156, White Lips Kissed, Hawaii, Hawaii Dream, Sometimes Life Isn't Easy, Beach, Special , The Zookeepers Boy. And for the encore Circutry of the wolf/Chinaberry Tree, Comforting Sounds @

Opening act(s): A virtually unkown band called "Choir of Young Belivers"...they were incredible cant wait to hear more from them @

I have been into this band for about three,four years now after stumbling upon them almost accidently back in early 2006. After the first song "The Zoo Keepers Boy" I was hooked and have been awating the new album and a possible UK tour ever since. Fastforward to this year and the announcement of the new albums release and some local UK dates, I booked without hesitaion and awaited with bated breath for the day to arrive...It came...and i was blown away.

The show itself was quite intimate being held in the smaller civic bar rather than the hall but to me it worked well, i managed to get fairly close to the stage and see my heroes play without too much effort.

The set ranged from new hits from the latest album like "Beach" and Introducing Palace Players" too some good old fan favourites like "156" and "Am I Wry", but even as a three piece (they did have some guy on bass and antoher on keyboard but they weren't band members) pulled them off spectaculary wich there should have never been any doubt on really.

During the songs they had a projector playing various animations and sequences to accompany the songs, this for me made everything much more enjoyable and really set the show apart from any others i have been too (one of my friend's was comepletly entranced by the final one had to be snapped out of it before we left). They played with such gusto and energy you would think it was a huge sellout stadium with thousands upon thousands of people rather than a small bar which justs shows how incredible this band really is.

All in all i really really enjoyed the show, everything about it, from the amazing opening act to the breath taking visuals and the beautiful music i have come to love from the worlds only indie staduim band. everything was incredible and i cannot wait for them to visit wolverhampton or anywhere local to me again.

Overall something amazing again from MEW. These guys know how to play good and precise progressive rock....
I am expecting to see them soon in Helsinki with 5000 other big fans of theirs...
