It was a real priviledge to stand within touching distance of such a fantastic singer. The vocals were absolutely spot on and when combined with such fantastically well written songs it just left you wondering why they were playing in the Rock City Basement to a few hundred people....memo to management company get them some real exposure they are definately good enough.
They started with 'Kiss of Life', which I first heard on a Classic Rock freebie and is a brilliant opening song as it gets the audience into the gig from the off ! They then played most of the favourites off the first album, including SOS and the sing-a-long 'Stay with Me' which had me singing away like a teenager. The only disappointment was that they didn't do their best song 'Staring at the Sun' or 'Wonderland' with it's magnificent keyboard section.
They played a number of songs off their new album, due to be released next year, including the downloadable single 'White Knuckle Ride' which suprisingly was probably the weakest of the new songs.
I've seen a fair number of groups at the Rock City - Thunder, Queensryche,Tesla, Marillion, Michael Schenker, Asia and a fair few others I can't remember and I have to say that this outfit surpassed them all.
The songs and the way the singer involves the audience is very similar to a Thunder gig.... memo to the rock fans of GB get up off your apathetic arses and get behind this group, don't let them go the same way as Thunder.
I bought the 'Kiss of Life' CD earlier in the year and whilst it didn't have the same initial impact as when I first heard 2112 or Van Halen, I now would put it in my top 5 favourite albums. Play it in the car for week and I guarantee that you will be singing your way to work.
No - I don't work for the management company because if I did I would be doing a far better job getting them the profile they deserve.
If you're into heavy rock (I'm a massive Rush and Michael Schenker fan) you've got to go and see them and I'll guarantee you'll have a great night.
