Jazz Cafe is a lovely compact initmate venue. This was the first of about six shows in a row by the Heavies.
Great to see the original line up, relaxed and enjoying themselves.
Some really good new material, plus most of the old classics.

The rhythm section of Kincaid and Levy was tight as ever, Simon Bartholomew was in mischievous good form, and the brass section got well stuck in.
However the sound quality put a real dampener on the evening. THe system couldn't cope with N'Dea's full, loud notes (I guess she didn't really go for it at the sound check?) - and there were terrible vibrations coming from the speakers. At times I had to cover my ears - not why you go to a gig!
I hope they managed to sort out the sound for the rest of the week.

Amazing set by amazing musicians. The intimate atmosphere of the Jazz Cafe was perfect for a band like this. We sat upstairs in the balcony seats and the view was excellent (although the food wasn't the best quality but we didn't go for fine dining!). I would heartily recommend the venue. The acoustics were good and the musicianship par excellence. The band played all their old numbers and a few new which we enjoyed.

I was lucky enough to witness The Brand New Heavies featuring N'Dea Davenport up close and personal on the last date of their week at the Jazz Cafe.
It is such an intimate venue with a great, friendly atmosphere and a fantastic sound.
Being so near to the band you can really appreciate their talent. Top class musicians and top class singers.
I'd say the BNH at the Jazz Cafe is the perfect combination.

We travelled from overseas, as Brits we have all their albums we work in the Mid East to watch the BNH stayed in town and had dinner tickets, food was fine.
The band played very few of their memorable numbers for us at least and at the end whilst it was great to see the members mingle on their way to the changing rooms we and another table were ignored in our efforts to say we had enjoyed the show and to say "hi" we were perhaps not quite trendy or hip enough.
Of 4 gigs of 80/90s bands seen this year BNH were the least dynamic and catered to the local fan base which is fine , but we and others had made efforts and frankly it was a let down that the band ignored these fans & we won't rush to see again or buy the new album.
Arrogance neither of us expected , from the band to play so little older material and for a well packaged show in a great venue it was a best average and they didn't appear to really enjoy the presence unlike other bands we've seen lately who really relished the atmosphere and appreciation & dedication of the punters.
Disappointing.

Both great bands let down by a very very substandard venue. Jazz cafe has the worst accoustics I have ever experienced, lots of overdriven distorted base with vocals lost in the mixing setup.....never again!!!

Excellent venue.

Another amazing concert from the Brand New Heavies. They never dissapoint & NDea is sounding as great as ever. Good atmosphere & venue at the indigo2, am looking forward to seeing them again & have already recommended them to other friends loving the live band experience.

Seeing BNH live at the Indigo last friday was a lifetime dream come true, I have enjoyed and followed their music since I was a student back In Italy and since I never had the opportunity to see them live, and to finally go to the concert, above all with the original band - includind Ndea- it was just amazing. Unlike many other recording studio bands they were even better live, and soooo entertaining...loved that they playd all the all time classics and great hits so that it was just like a party where everyone was enjoying and dancing along...I was lucky to be front line....truly a memorable night!!!!

I last saw the Brand New Heavies in 1996, they were excellent then and were excellent now, I loved everything about this gig and loved the intimacy of the O2 Indigo which made it more like a party than a concert.

A fantastic performance from BNH - really enjoyed the evening. Thought the support act were spot on too, a well matched band for BNH.
Only downside was the ridiculous queue to retrive coats at the end, and the undermanned bar staff.
Music was great - 4.5 stars, organisation was only a 3 star!
Anyome know why N'Dea disappeared in the middle of the set? Just goes to show the versatlity and talent of the band to deal with that seamlessly!
Never stop, looking forward to the next performance.

Brand New Heavies were amazing.........they were full of funk !! Didnt stop dancing ! Hope they do another one!! Great choiceof venue, great decor, didnt have to queue for the loos!! (the girls) bar was a bit busy at the beginning but didnt matter, and the sound was excellent.

WELL TO BE REALLY HONEST THEY WERE A DISAPPOINTMENT TO ME. THEY DID TOO MUCH INSTRUMENTAL STUFF AND NOT ENOUGH OF THE CLASSICS WE LOVE TO HEAR. THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT ABOUT THIS SHOW IS THERE WAS NO AFTERSHOW PARTY WHICH WOULD OF BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVE AND THE MOST ANNOYING THING IS THAT THIS WAS NOT STATED WHEN I BOOKED MY TICKET ! I WILL MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE FUTURE CONCERTS ARE ULTIMATE BOOGIES NIGHTS OR SOUL NETWORK.
